11:07 am
Unwillingly, I am becoming a morning person. It seems that 2009 has decided to yank my sleepy ass out of bed and force it to be productive before noon. I am doing better than expected with this.

Today, I only hit my snooze button three times before rolling out of bed. However, i stumble into the kitchen to make coffee and ended up pouring water directly onto the grinds rather than the appropriate area. And didn't figure this out until I had woken up a little more, dressed, brushed my teeth and wondered why the hell the coffee wasn't done. Oops. [thus, brueggers got another day of business from me!]

Get to work about 9:20 for a 9:30 meeting. WHY?! Rescheduled to next Wednesday at 9AM. Sigh! Same day I have an evening board meeting for GLSEN. Guess who will be working a 11-12 hour day? Yipee.

Today is *supposed* to be one of my days off. I'll end up leaving about noon, but then have to work all day tomorrow doing a GLSEN training of trainers. And my next day off isn't until next SATURDAY, as I will be in a high school all day next Friday talking to health classes. Damn good thing I love my job!

On a different note-- i was walking out of my building this morning and suddenly my upper back really cramped up. Like I had to STOP moving and wait out the pain because it was so uncomfortable. It got less intense after a minute, and now i'm just experiencing mild tightness when I breathe and a bit of cramping when I move in certain ways. Weird. I wonder if I slept on it wrong. Not enough discomfort or pain to warrant a doc visit. But I will have to arm myself with tylenol/advil to get through the training tomorrow.

Okay.. not much else.. Trying to figure out if i want (and can afford to!) go to the L Word premiere party in Boston next weekend. It is very tempting since this is the last season!

So. I have a parking ticket due tomorrow. Or so sayeth my ticket that is in front of me. But when I went online to pay it, it says that it does not exist. The ticket I got a week later is shown (I know, i know...). Not sure what to do about that. I guess i will be calling Parking Bureau tomorrow.

That would be sweet if I didn't have to pay it.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In April I donated bone marrow to love_n_solace in a life-saving procedure (300 points). Last Thursday I committed genocide... Sorry about that, strugle2achieve (-5000 points). In November I helped belovedfreedom across the street (6 points). In September I invaded Iraq, broke it, and couldn't glue it back together before Mom got home (-1012 points). Last Friday I pulled emt7876's hair (-5 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-5711 points). For Christmas I deserve a moldy sandwich!

Why do people in other areas have to wait so long to vote?

i've NEVER had to wait, like maybe i waited 5 to 10 minutes ONCE (maybe the 2004 election?).. But today, i literally walked right in and out, just like the past few years.

I mean... there are so many polling locations here. Is that not the case in other places? Do they lack election inspectors? any insight?

im gonna try some ibuprofen and i guess buy some tums if that doesnt work.? i hatehate chewing or liquid medicine, so i'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

i hate that even the smallest bites of food hurt like a mofo going down. WHYYYY. i didnt even eat anything bad yesterday?? don't people usually get heartburn from like spicy food and friend food?

2:05 am - omfg
there was just this creepy crawly bug in the bathroom. I HATE BUGS! Linus found it and i ran around trying to find something to kill it. came back with ant spray and fucking sprayed half the can on it. its underneath the radiator in the bathroom now. and i seriously cannot pick it up because i'm too... i dont know. i hate bugs!

the scary thought: if there is one, is there more??

i can't deal with more of these bugs. This was the size of a caterpillar and had a bunch of legs and WHAT IF IT IS ONE OF THOSE BUGS THAT GROWS TO BE HUGE! centipedes?! those fuckers scare the shit out of me. i'd end up sleeping in my car. holy fuck. i need virg to get the fuck back from new orleans and take care of this!!! AHHH.

its 2am and i was about asleep and now i'm WIDE AWAKE, afraid of these bugs. i gave linus a bunch of treats for finding the bug and then i had to close the bathroom door since i didn't wipe up the bug and ant spray and i can't have him going in there to eat it or inspect it and get poisioned.

Okay. i'm okay. holy fuck i hate bugs.

holy tainted tomatoes, i have cramps.

seriously. GRR. i've already had about 6 ibuprofen in the past six hours. and if something doesnt let up soon, i'll b3e taking the 8 I have left. ARGH!

the jesus nutters next door arent helping much. seriously, i was patient and blissfully tuning them out for the first 90 minutes. But SHUT THE HELL UP!!! SERIOUSLY. at least turn down the mic! There are ten people in a small room. YOU DONT NEED A MIC. especially when the sign on the door says "No talking allowed." I will be complaining to the building people tomorrow. It was beyond ridiculous today. It is also the last performance of Wicked in Rochester this afternoon and even the usher guiding people in was annoyed.

Okay. group soon. Two kids are here. It's fathers day, but still have group for the kids who may not have father figures in their life. After this shindig, I'm gonna head to the market and then home to do laundry and clean. Fun stuff. Maybe watch a fun movie. Harry Potter, L Word, Freedom Writers (i havent seen that yet, but oddly i own it)..

The end.

okay, i'm all about freedom of religion and workshipping however you choose. EXCEPT when you rent space in a SHARED building, do you REALLY need a microphone and amp to preach to 10 people? SERIOUSLY. It's just rude and disrespectful. I think Jesus would agree.

12:29 am - everyone likes a survey...thanks Tanya :)
"You know how sometimes people on your friend's list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out :)"

1. First Name: Jess.

2. Age: 27. Where did the time go?

3. Location: Rochester, NY.

4. Occupation: Youth Services Coordinator at the Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley. Non-profit agency. I work with gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender/queer/questioning/straight allied kids ages 13-25. It's a pretty awesome job.

5. Partner: Virg. She's in New Orleans for the summer and attending nursing school.

6. Kids: someday.

7. Brothers/Sisters: Dan (28) and Brian (twin-27). Dan just got back from his second tour in Iraq and is living a few hours away with his wife, Deb. They have four cats and are looking to move closer to central NY to be near family/friends. Brian is a math specialist at a rich suburban school district near Syracuse and is pretty much Type A brilliant, motivated, homeowner already. I get along very well with my brothers. They rock.

8. Pets: Linus (cat). age 8. Adopted three years ago from humane society. he is the best and i love him beyond words. Nicknames include: Killer, LiLi, Fluffybutt, Orange Chicken, Stink, Bubb. Favorite activities include: sitting in the same spot for hours, staring at the doorway, running into the closet when scared and hiding. Generally getting fur everywhere. I also had a few pets growing up. Wile E Cockatoo (citron cockatoo) is age 13 and lives with my dad and stepmom. My childhood cat, Ted, died two years ago. He was 15. I had some fish randomly.. but i'm not a big fan of fish. They are kind of gross.

9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
- Work. Always busy, usually good. Trying to provide positive, fun programming for the kids and expanding services.. filling my predecessors shoes (she left in january) isn't easy.
- Generally improving relationships in my life and getting thru with Virg being in New Orleans.
- Trying to figure out if/where I'm going to move at the end of the summer.

10. Where, and for what, did you go to school?: I went to SUNY Brockport, state college in upstate NY. Had three majors until the last semester of my senior year (Health Science, Psychology, English) until taking a semester leave to attend treatment. Came back in the fall and graduated with one degree to just finish.. even though i was only 12 credits shy of three full bachelors degrees. My degree is in Health Science, with a concentration in Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling.

11. Parents? They live in Syracuse. They separated when i was 8. My dad remarried when I was in my early twenties. My mom has some health issues. My dad is another Type A, successful, workaholic guy. He is funny and we get along. I'm not emotionally close to either of my parents.

12. Who are some of your closest friends?: Virg (duh... even though we have very different personalities and interests), Terri, my twin brother. I could use some closer friends. I'm very friendly with everyone, but not always easy being closer.. Does my cat count as a friend? (is that pathetic?... how about the golden girls..?)

yay for bloody nose in the middle of the night!

at least Linus seems to be happy that i'm awake. He has made himself comfortable next to me on the couch and is currently grooming. i suppose it could be worse-- i could be covered in a long fur coat in the middle of a hot summer night.. poor Linus.

I need to sleep... tomorrow AM: AIDS Walk. have to run to bank to get change collected by kids switched into lump sum for our team.

it is gonna be HOT tomorrow. i am not too excited to be walking a 5K, even if i believe in the cause. Can't we just not, and say we did? ... we raised money, we can have a little hippity hop around the block, clap for bestest fundraisers, eat some hotdogs and get the heck back to somewhere with air conditioning. Good plan? Yeah. I thought so.

3:38 pm - social skills group, perhaps?
Comment from Youth Program member today: "ohhh your face is breaking out, that's so bad!"

Thank you, Captain Obvious. Good thing I'm beyond caring about shit like that. I'm 27 years old, my face is breaking out because i jsut got my period and i'm stressed. I think I'll survive.

However, i am seriously contemplating starting a Social Skills 101 group. Because a good number of teens who attend the program have ZERO people-skills.

Thank you. Drive thru.
